Imphal, May 6 NNN : Speakers at the May 6 Mao Gate incident said the government of India should stop playing dirty politics with the Nagas.
Two students were killed in the Mao Gate incident on May 6 in the year 2010 at the Manipur-Nagaland border when Nagas rose up against the barring of NSCN-IM leader Thuingaleng Muivah from visiting his home village Somtal in Ukhrul district by the government of Manipur. The students were killed in the security force firing.
Observing the occasion today organised by the Mao Council under the aegis of the United Naga Council, speakers while asking the government of India to be serious about the Naga political issue, have said that Nagas are ready to shed more blood.
Neli Chakho and Dikho Loshuo were killed on the fateful day.
Observing the 2nd anniversary of the incident at Martyrs Park, Mao Gate representatives from Naga frontal organizations from Nagaland and Manipur, students, social leaders and family members of the late students under scorching sun paid rich tribute to the two innocent students.
As part of the special tribute to the “heroes who laid their lives for the cause, the Naga Students Federations (NSF) along with ANSAM tribe units planted tree saplings in and around the park.
Moderated by M.Dili, former Naga Peoples Organisation (NPO) president and Grace Shatsang, former Naga Women Union president, different Naga frontal leaders including UNC president, Naga Hoho general secretary spoke on the occasion.
Solidarity messages were also delivered by CFAA, UNC, NMA, NSF, NPMHR. Mao Naga Women’s’ Welfare Association narrating the May 6, 2010 incident.
