Imphal, May 21 : The Nehru Yuva Kendra, Thoubal observed the death anniversary of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi as Anti Terrorism Day by administering Anti Terrorism Pledge and donating blood voluntarily by 75 young people at the Jivan Hospital, Kakching today. The blood donation camp was organised by NYK Thoubal and IHBT, RIMS.
In his address to the youth Prof. N. Mohendro Singh, Former Member, Steering Committee, Vision 2020, Govt. of India who was the Chief Guest of the function mentioned that Terrorism affects all sections of the people including the unborn child in the mother’s womb. Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed his life for the nation. We need a concerted effort to fight against terrorism including the envionmental terrorism.
We should not forget that even an unhappy employee may become a terrorist. He advised the youth that anything which comes against the conscience of the individual should be avoided. Let us do one good thing every day and become an ideal human being in the society. The Chief Guest also administered the Anti Terrorism pledge.
Dr. L.R. Kom, Director, Manipur State Blood Transfusion Council reiterate that Blood is the gift of God. Nobody can manufacture blood. It is a fact that if there is no blood, there is no life. As such, it is the bounded responsibility for everybody to save our fellow human beings. The blood received from the Blood Donors are the safest blood.
In his keynote address Shri Y. Laksman Singh, District Youth Co-ordinator, Thoubal highlighted the basic objective of observing the day and the purpose of organizing Voluntary Blood Donation on the Terrorism Day. The blood donation was organized in Coordination with the Lions Club Kakching Greater, SAO Kakching and S.P. Thoubal. The volunteers of NYK, Youth Club leaders and the VDF personnels donated blood.
In his Presidential address, the Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal, Shri K. Radhakumar Singh, pointed out that the Manipuris are tolerant in many ways but not on safeguarding the territorial integrity. There is a psycho-physical relevance among the minds of the people. We should try our best to be an ideal man in the society by donating blood and doing good for the society.
NYK Thoubal launched the village level programmes of the two special projects viz, (i) Youth Initiative for the Publicity of Message of Development and Peace in Manipur and (ii) Awareness and Education for the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Alcoholism in Thoubal District, Manipur.
The observance of the day ended with thanks from Lion Y. Mohendro Singh, Secretary, Lions Club Kakching greater .
