IMPHAL, May 22: The Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) has strongly deplored the division of Zeliangrong as six different tribes as Kabui, Kacha Naga, Naga, Zeme, Liangmai, Rongmei and Inpui according to the Gazette issued on January 9 by the Government of India.

A release of Zeliangrong Baudi said that the original demand as “any Zeliangrong tribes including Zeme, Liangmai, Rongmei and Inpui in the lieu of Kabui and Kacha Naga” was approved by Manipur Cabinet in 1991 and 2001.

It also said that the state recommendation to the centre for declaring the mutation in lieu of misnomer Kabui and Kacha Naga was latter sabotage by some divisive forces to have caused the state and the centre to pass legislation in the parliament (Lok Sabha) as bill no 108 on December 19, 2011 recognizing six Zeliangrong tribes, which also included Kabui and Kacha Naga as a new tribe to separate the people speaking the same Mother tongue.

Further it said that the Zeliangrong Baudi along with other Zeliangrong frontal organizations shall continue the demand for further modification base on the original demand and Manipur Cabinet Resolution 1991 and 2001.
