Imphal, Aug 27: A health seminar was conducted by 28 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR South at Kakching on 27th Aug 2012. The seminar was themed “Awareness with Compassion” where in Assam Rifles and other Government and Non Government agencies of Manipur joined hands against the menace of HIV/AIDS.
The seminar was a step forward in the direction to eradicate the stigma and discrimination associated with people living with HIV and AIDS. Various eminent speakers expressed their views touching a over wide spectrum on issues related to HIV and AIDS. The seminar was inaugurated by Maj Gen UK Gurung,YSM,IGAR(S) and attended by various civil dignitaries .
Topics like changing scenario of AIDS, Stigma and Discrimination, the nexus of Drugs HIV and AIDS, Role and Challenges of Media and Alternative Cure from AYUSH were emphasized upon. The seminar also included a deliberate discussion on various issues and questions of the audience were aptly answered by the eminent panel.
