Chandel, NNN, Sept 8: The All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) has expressed its disappointment regarding the decision of the central government not to entertain on the demand for the implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Manipur.
AMTU general secretary Romeo Bungdon said, “It is very disappointing to learn that the Union government of India turned down the Inner Line Permit extension demand for Manipur which had been sent by the state government after a cabinet decision. So, it is clear that the indigenous people shall be disarmed technically on the influx issue”.
Consequently, influx of migrants is a threat to the demography, land, resources and even for the cultures, customs and traditions of Manipur people, said the tribal body leader. Indeed the people here are likely to be assimilated to migrant people of “our own identity” without such preventive constitutional provisions, stated Romeo Bungdon.
“I fear to state that the state government’s plan to exercise or implement MLR-LR 1960 in the hill districts of Manipur after its revenue survey will attract more influx and pave easy settlements for mainland migrants and foreign immigrants. Hence, all tribal people of Manipur hill districts must oppose the sinister policy instigated to the state government of Manipur by rich landlords of mainland India. It is also appealed to the valley common brethren of Manipur to understand the matter and bear with us on this regard,” said Romeo Bungdon.
The AMTU general secretary then suggested a panacea saying there is one system which can deal the influx of migrants into Manipur.
According to the tribal leader, social-reformation within “our Manipur society” which include not to sell lands to migrants. Another suggestion was not to accommodate these migrants as tenants without police verification. Romeo also said that allowing the migrants to own a piece of land as dowry is another detrimental factor. Romeo Bungdon then said depending on them for labor and skill manual works is another negative side.
“Thus, we all require to sensitized on such subjects and adapt self reliant work culture with skill manual work enrichment training which must be provided and facilitated by the state government. Very sorry to state, but until we the various indigenous Manipur ethnic tribes and communities are able to revive and revamp our cultures, customs and traditions for our identity preservation within the purview of UNESCO, we need such social reformation phenomenon for survival,” asserted the general secretary of All Manipur Tribal Union.
Meanwhile, AMTU has lauded the move of United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF), Zou Defence Volunteers (ZDV) and Kuki Revolutionary Army-United (KRA-U)on the Kuki Black Day observation.
“Its is very fascinating to read the news item of UKLF, ZDV and KRA(U) urging the kuki brethren to no more observe Black Day which normally falls on September 13, that smoulders only inhuman incitement. This very noble and triumphant declaration percolated with humanity wisdom is the ideal Christian philosophical doctrine, perhaps wiser than King Solomon’s golden wisdom. This lead to civilization and they deserve the highest tribal traditional honour. Hence, I on behalf of the Manipur tribal communities proclaim that these frontal tribal outfits are worth while to take up our tribal mandatory constitutional issues,” said the AMTU general secretary Romeo Bungdontoday.
It then said for such divine statements they made, God the Almighty for sure must be enormously pleased with. “May God sanctify their wisdom for the the prince of peace shall always dwell and dine with them. Halleleuja!,” said AMTU.
In fact it was devilish and silly misunderstanding in ancient days and the 1990s that brought disunity and irrational human disaster. Otherwise, the tribals would have been enjoyin a seperate distinct kingdom since the ancient years, added the All Manipur Tribal Union.
