Tamenglong, Sept 11NNN : The Zeliangrong Students Union, Tamenglong district (ZSU-TD) has threatened to take up serious form of agitation if the state government fails to post regular science and English teachers at Tamenglong Higher Secondary School.
The ZSU-TD has put September 15 as its deadline to fulfill its demand.
Submitting a memorandum addressed to the director of Education (S), government of Manipur signed by its co-ordinator Achunnah Pamei, the ZSU-TD requested the former to post teachers for Chemistry, Physics, English and Political Science and also a grade IV staff to the Tamenglong higher seconday school.
In its memorandum, the Zeliangrong students’ body highlighted that the students of the institution have been facing hardship and problems in want of sufficient number of teachers since the past 4 to 5 years. “Our cries have gone unheeded despite the repeated pleas and prayers to the concerned authority. Now, the situation will be out of gear as the students are agitated,” said the ZSU-TD.
The Zeliangrong students’ body then said the salaries of part-time lecturers be released through the principals for all the higher secondary schools of the hill districts so as to ensure the regular attendance of the teachers.
It finally said that one Keineliang M.G, a B.Sc (Maths) graduate teacher of Tharon junior high school utilised at Model Village H/S, Tamenglong was transferred and now he is being utilised as incharge of Science Supervisor at ZEO, Tamenglong. “His transfer or absence from the said institution has left the school and the students a big problem as the school is now without a Mathematics class,” stated the ZSU-TD.
