MNS:- A 15 Day District Level Awareness Cum-De-Addiction Camp organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal, Manipur under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India inaugurated by Km. L. Tilotama, Vice-Chairperson, BOG, NYKS Delhi on the 15th Sept., 2012 concluded at the RDS Training Centre, Khongjom War Memorial Complex, Thoubal on the 29th Sept., 2012. 51 youths including 25 drug addicts and 26 other youths participated in the camp.
Shri K. Radhakumar Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal, Dr. Kh. Radheshyam Singh, Chief Medical Officer, Thoubal and Shri L. Damu Singh, Chief Project Co-ordinator, RDS were the Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
In his key note address Shri Y. Lakshman Singh, District Youth Co-ordinator, Thoubal highlighted the activities of the camp viz, detoxification of 25 drug addicts, awareness and education by technical experts, interaction session with recovering addicts, health check-up by Medical Officers, Art of Living for healthy body and mind, cultural programme for recreation and personality development, counselling with professionals, social service, games and sports for healthy living etc. Shri Laimayum Sanju Sharma, participant of the camp expressed his deep feelings of how he could overcome from the bad habits during the camp and his promises to live a life without drugs in future.The Deputy Commissioner advised the youths to be courageous enough to face the challenges of overcoming the habit of drug abuse. He also gave away the prizes to the position holders in various competitions held during the camp and certificates to all the campers. Earlier the DC and CMO also supervised the newspaper clippings and photo exhibitions related to awareness and education for prevention of drug abuse and alcoholism organised by NYK in different villages of Thoubal District.
Dr. Kh. Radheshyam Singh, CMO advised the youths not to abuse the drugs during the youths age. Shri L. Damu Singh, Project Co-ordinator thanked NYK for successfully organising the camp for the benefit of the youths in the district. The programme ended by administering an oath by the Deputy Commissioner, Thoubal.
