UKHRUL, Oct 3: Mammoth participation of women at the 24th Raising Day celebration of Hunphun Shanao Long (Ukhrul Women Union) marked the occasion at Mini Secretariat Multi Purpose Hall in Ukhrul district headquarters today.
Over 5000 Tangkhul women in traditional attires participated in the elaborately arranged Raising Day. Who is who of the Tangkhul women enthusiastically participated where chief guest of the occasion Drucilla Ragui who is the Joint Director of Education (s), government of Manipur exhorted the Tangkhul women in steer the society to the right path for the betterment of the society.
Chairman of Hunphun Executive Council Mr Edmund Chiphang and chairman of All Tangs (localities) Chairmen Association (ATCA) Mr Aquila Zingkhai deliberated on the responsibilities of women in the society.
Meanwhile, unique recreational programmes such as on customs and traditions and also on attires were exhibited in today’s occasion.
Ukhrul deputy commissioner R Sudhan also participated in the programme.
