Imphal, Oct 4: MAASI will be observing 27th Bravery Day, at its campus Keirao on Oct 13 in memory of its founder member and active adventurist Late Shri Hidam Shyamkishore Singh of Tentha Khunou.Thoubal District, Manipur during an attempt of the Peak Gangotri III, in the Himalayan Expeditin to Mount Gangotri III 6577 mtrs. the Grawal Himalay, U.P. (now Uttarakhand) organised by the Manipur Adventure & Allied Sports Institute (MAASI), Keirao from 20th September to 26th October, 1985. He was also a recipient of State Award (Posthumous) of Chief Minister Medal for the bravery he had shown during the attempt of the peak on 13/10/1985 on which he lost his life in the attempt of the peak by the 6 climbers being (1) N. J.K. Singh, Team Leader; (2) L. Kunjakishore Singh, Dy. Leader; (3) M. Pratap Sigh, Member; (4) (L) H. Shyamkishore Singh, Member; (5) S. Deva Meitei and (6) A. Chaoba Sharma with the financial assistant from the Directorate of the YAS, Govt. of Manipur.
The Government of Manipur in fact, recognised the Gallant action of Late_Shri H. Shyamkishore Singh who sacrificed his life for the cause of the future adventurous youths and thus awarded posthumously the Chief Minister’s Gallantry Award.
A ceremony will be held on the day of 10:00 A.M. on 13/10/2012 at MAASI Complex, Keirao with i Ksh. Janma Singh (Retd. Addl. SP) President, MAASI and other Members/Dignitaries of the MAASI, by offering floral tributes to the departed soul and talk on the life and work of Late H. Shyamkishore Singh.
All dignitaries and members associated with the Institute and all previous relatives/ friends of the departed soul are requested to be present on the day. MAASI have also arranged “One Week Adventure Awareness Camps” for 7 days
