Imphal, Oct 14 : Discovering presence of suspected IED on NH-2 between Manipur University Gate and Robert Standard High School, troops of 28 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under aegis of HQ IGAR (South) along with Imphal West police sprung into action and sanitised the area with the assistance of Dog squad and Manipur Police Bomb Disposal Team on 14 Oct 12. The normal traffic was restored at around 11:00 a.m. when no IED was recovered.
Commander 9 Sector Assam Rifles and Police officials thanked the local population for their support and urged them to be aware and cautious about any unattended object on the National Highway or in its vicinity and report any such matter at once to help create a safe environment in view of the upcoming festive season.Assam Rifles promises to be ever alert and respond to any call given by police or public to take action against any possible IED attack on the National Highway and thwart the nefarious design of militant groups to inflict causality on local population and security forces or cause damage to government property or vehicle.
