Imphal, Nov 5 : The ninth Khunai Kanba (save society) day jointly organized by KLAM, NAHAKAL and GPF was observed at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace compound today.
Gracing the occasion as chief guest, retd. Lecturer and national awardee, Thokchom Chandra said, it is very unfortunate as the people of the state don’t think of serving good service for the state.
Representing the exploited people of the state, she is spending her life in prison today. But some people are spending a luxurious life. The womenfolk of the land should think of the mind of Irom Chanu Sarmila when Ningol Chakkouba is knocking at the door.
IC Asem, president, KLAM and Thiyam Leima, president of NAHAKAL were the presidium members.
It may be mentioned here that the three assn. supporting the agitation of Irom Chanu Sarmila organized the day since 2004.
So far, Sarmila was awarded 10 awards and titles which are Iron Lady, Nura Temshingnabi-2006, Namu Myo Ho Renge Kiyo-2006, Leipaklei, Lu-ngainem Lei, Queen of non-violence and Peace (KLAM) Gwangju award, Myi lamma award 2009, Kerala, freedom fighter award- 2010, civil society, Bangalore, Rabindranath Tagore peace prize 2010 and Kob vilan Smaraka activist India national award 2012.
