The dy. CM, Gaikhangam said, he will consult with CM regarding the appointment of a separate commissioner under disability act. The state government has taken up different schemes for the disabled. He was speaking as chief guest at the world disabled day at Kuki Inn Imphal today. During appointment of employees there is a reservation of three p.c in every deptt. The govt will recognize the right of bonafide disabled persons. God has given additional talent to disabled persons. The minister appealed to share mutual help among us.
The theme of the observation was removing barriers to create an inclusive and sociable society for all. The parliamentary secy, tribal affairs and hills Victor Keishing, Yamthong Haokip, MLA, Saikul A/C also attended the function as president and guest of honour respectively.
The chief guest also distributed wheel chair and hearing aids to the disabled. Altogether there are 28,000 disabled persons in Manipur. The function was also held at Oinam, Bishnupur today. The DC, Bishnupur district Senia Shimray graced the occasion as chief guest. Cultural programmes presented by disabled highlighted programme while speaking, Shri Jason Shimray said, the people knowing the sufferings of the disabled should help them.
