IMPHAL, December 5: The All Manipur NGOs, Imphal observed the 27th International Volunteer Day at the MVHA Conference Hall, Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal today.
A reception ceremony of the chairperson and the members of the Manipur State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) was also held alongside the function.
Secretary general, Centre for Mental Hygiene, Ch Pisakmacha, seceratary, Gram Sabha Sangha, Aribam Deviraj, secretary, Service & Education for Welfare Action, Jiban Kumar Laishram, Rural Service Agency, RUSA, L Pomila, Th Kamesheswar, United Volunteer Youth Council, UNYC, Kh Premlata Devi, L Purnimashi, N Iboton, K Bheiga Singh were awarded the Best State Volunteer Award, 2012.
The awardees were presented with a shawl, citation and case prize.
General secretary, K Panmei in his key note address said that the United Nation had approved the observation of “International Volunteer Day” in the year 1985 to recognized the volunteers of the world who had done for the welfare and upliftment of the public.
The function was attended by MLA, E Chand Singh, AMNGOF president, Y Surchandra, chairperson MSCPCR, A Nabachandra, as chief guest, president, guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the function MLA, E Chand Singh said there are certain civil organisations that run for their own goods, which ought to be stopped at the earliest.
He further appealed the NGOs to work hard for the welfare of the public.
