IMPHAL, Dec 14 NNN: Even though New Delhi has intimated to the Kuki National Organisation (KNO) officially yesterday in written assuring to begin a political dialogue, no invitation has come from the government till today to sign for the extension of Suspension of Operation (SoO).
Sources from the KNO informed NNN this evening that no official invitation from the government has come forth till today.
The SoO term between the government and the KNO had expired on November 22. The KNO had refused to sign for the next extension of SoO term during the meeting in New Delhi on December 5 saying unless a written assurance was given by the government in written to begin a political dialogue it would not sign.
As of now, the KNO has not abrogated the SoO nor it has signed for the extension.
SoO was first signed seven years ago but till date no political dialogue has begun albeit there have been periodical ‘tripartite’ meetings involving the KNO, the Manipur government and the Centre.
The KNO had expressed more than on one occasions that non-holding of political dialogues would jeopardise the ongoing SoO agreement. On November, the KNO had threatened to abrogate the SoO if the political dialogue was not begun by November 22.
Dr Seilen Haokip, spokesman of the KNO told a strong posse of journalists in New Delhi last month that the KNO could no longer go on like this saying the outfit had waited without holding any political dialogue for seven long years.
