IMPHAL, Dec 17 NNN: State Cabinet has been decided to recruit 2,000 police constables, apart from discussing on establishment of two district hospitals in Imphal East and Imphal West, and another four GNM schools in the four hill districts .
The decision for recruiting 2,000 police constables for the state police was taken by the state Cabinet during a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister held at his Secretariat in contemplation for the Imphal-Tupul-Jiribam railway line and Loktak Down Stream project which have currently required security protection, Education minister and the Government spokesperson, M Okendro told reporters at his office chamber after the meeting.
The total number of sanctioned posts for the civil police is 33,000 and presently 5,000 posts is lying vacant, he informed. However, the Cabinet has decided to recruit only 2,000 posts considering the financial problem being faced by the state Government, he added.
Notification for the recruitment of the police constables will be issued in the early part of January next year and the recruitment process will be begin soon.
The meeting further resolved to take necessary action at the earliest to set up two district hospitals one each at Imphal West’s Mayang Imphal and Imphal East’s Sagolmang, and another four GNM hospitals at Ukhrul, Chandel, Tamenglong and Churachandpur, Okendro said.
For the two proposed district hospitals to be constructed at the cost of Rs 35.13 crore each under the funding of the Special Central Assistance 2011-12 the Cabinet decided to acquire land by direct purchase method.
The four DNM schools will be constructed at the cost Rs 10 crore each under the funding of Ministry of Health and Family welfare, Government of India, he added while informing that 15 percent of the cost will be shared by the state Government.
It was also discussed by the meeting to find ways to fill up the vacant post of Commissioner for disabilities after making necessary amendment in the appointment rules, he added.
