IMPHAL, Dec 18 NNN: The striking Joint Coordinating Committee of Engineering Departments, Manipur (PWD, PHED, IFCD and MID) is likely to cease all kinds of works like supply of water to the public and development of roads and bridges if the state Government tries to stop the committee from launching a proposed indefinite hunger strike beginning January 7 next year.
The committee is on a cease work strike since November 6 demanding implementation of 6th Pay of (ROP-2010) to work-charged employees of the engineering departments, and it has decided to launch another hunger strike on the same demand from January 7 next year, B Gunamani, general secretary of the coordinating committee announced to the media at the PWD conference hall here on Tuesday.
He blamed the state Government for the present condition of the 2000-odd work-charged employees at all the engineering departments and lamented that had the state Finance Department taken them seriously at par with the regular staffs its financial condition could have not been worsen.
The committee will continue with the ongoing strike and if the Government says no to the demand till January 6 next year, then it would launch another indefinite hunger strike, he announced and further warned that it would cease all kinds of works like supply of water to the public and development of roads and bridges in the event of the Government’s attempt to bar the strike.
