SENAPATI, Jan 5 NNN: Series of intense agitation will start soon by the United Naga Council (UNC) demanding the ‘alternative arrangement’ for Manipur Nagas outside the government of Manipur, pending settlement of Indo-Naga political issue.
Sources said that a consultative meeting of the UNC was held today at Senapati where Naga frontal organisation leaders, MLAs, social workers, former MLAs and former ministers took part.
It was dwelt that the proposed agitation will be purely a democratic movement. “We will not subscribe to any form of violence, nor the communal approach. Ours is purely a democratic movement,” said the UNC sources. The UNC leaders added that they will not support any mob activities. “Anyone trying to misguide the movement by way of building up a mob will not be supported by us,” said the UNC leaders.
When queried about the time the UNC is likely to begin its agitation, the UNC leaders said, “For the time being we would like to keep the proceedings of today’s meeting to ourselves as confidentials. We will spell out at the right time. But it will not take much time,” .
