MNS:- The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Nagpur has convicted Shri T.S. Rajan, then Telephone Mechanic, Pipla Telephone Exchange, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), Distt. Nagpur (Maharashtra) and sentenced him to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment with total fine of Rs.10,000/- in a bribery case.
CBI had registered a case against Shri T.S. Rajan, Telephone Mechanic, Pipla Telephone Exchange, BSNL, Distt. Nagpur on the basis of a complaint alleging that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs.1,000/- from the complainant on 04.04.2002 for early installation of his telephone connection.
After registration of the case, CBI laid a trap and Shri T.S. Rajan, Telephone Mechanic was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant. A chargesheet was filed on 21.06.2002.
The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted him.
