IMPHAL, Jan 14: KSC Lambulane storm into the semifinal of the 56th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CDE Memorial football Tournament after defeating KLASA by 5-4 goals in the tie-break at Mapal Kangjeibung Imphal today.
Playing the last quarter final match of the ongoing CC Meet, KSC of Lambulane defeated KLASA of Keinou by 5-4 goals in tie-break.
KLASA dominated the first half of the match with several attacks however failed to convert any goal.
Eventual winners KSC changed their formation and game style in the second half and dominated the match proceedings.
In 80th minute of match, centre referee H Khamba awarded a red card to KLASA team captain.
One man short KLASA struggled but nonetheless managed a goalless draw at the end of the match.
Centre referee H Khamba awarded yellow cards to Seijalal Haokip in 11th minute and Bonny Laino in 50th minute of KSC and Th Herojit in 35th minute and double cautioned team captain T Shusil in the 40th and 80 minute of the play of KLASA.
The first kick for KLASA was taken by Th Herojit which as brilliantly stopped by KSC goalkeeper Thangtin Pao Khongsai.
The successful KLASA players are L Jiten, S Herojit, A Kenedy and S Homeshor, while Housonpao, Gngulkhoiiem, Bonny Laino, Lamkholen Kipgen and PS Themreishang converted their spot kicks for the winners.
After 59 years KSC of Lambulane entered semifinal stage.
In 1953 and 1954 KSC played upto semifinal round.
Meanwhile, several officials, fans including football players of Manipur were not satisfied with the ground condition of Mapal Kangjeibung.
A number of players of several teams had been injured due to the ground condition. The organizing committee has already decided that both semifinals and the final match will be held at the Khuman Lampak Main stadium.
Maximum numbers of teams and players desired to play their match at the Main stadium Khuman Lampak.
However last year a New Zeland club had played a match at the Main Stadium during which its players and officials had lots of complaints regarding the ground condition.
The first semifinal match will be played between Assam Regimental Center, Shillong and Tiddim Road Athletic Union, TRAU of Kwakeithel on January 15 at 1.15pm at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium.
Assam Regimental Center vs TRAU Kwakeithel will be great match.
Local team TRAU has lots of advantage including home crowd support and the number matches played on the ground.
During the ongoing tourney, TRAU has played some matches with great results.
