Imphal, Jan 15: 18 SIKH of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(S), organized a free medical camp at Samurao PHC near Mayang Imphal in Imphal West District in collaboration with District Health Mission Society (NRHM), Imphal (W) on 14 Jan 2013. Brigadier MK Das, Commander Headquarter 9 Sector Assam Rifles graced the occasion and inaugurated the Medical Camp. He interacted with the medical staff and the local populance. A team of seven doctors comprising of RMO of 18 SIKH, a Dentist from HQ 9 Sector and other civil doctors from RIMS Hospital, Imphal provided free Medical checkup and advice apart from providing of medicines to the people, hailing from Mayang Imphal, Samurao and adjoining villages. A total of 100 males, 400 females and 100 children were diagnosed and provided free medicines in the camp. 02 mobile medical vans with X-Ray machine, Lab facility and Ultrasound facility were also arranged through Chief Medical Oficer (CMO) Imphal West Dristict. . An interactive session was also carried out to educate the villagers on various diseases including AIDS, dental problems, and Malaria. The specific medical requirements of ladies were exclusively attended by the Gynecologist during the camp. Another unique feature was providing exclusive dental care.
37 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector distributed Stationary & Furniture items to Govt high school of Chakpikarong village in Chandel district on 14 Jan 2013 under “OP SAMARITIAN 2012-2013”. Commandant 37 Assam Rifles distributed these items to the school children.
In another occasion, 41 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) organized a friendly volley ball match between Awangkasom village and Awangkasom Company of 41 Assam Rifles. The closely contested match was played in the midst of huge cheering and appreciative village crowd. Assam Rifles also gifted sports kits to the opponent team after the match.
