Imphal, Jan 15: The 24 hour bandhcalled to protest against the bomb attack at the house of president of Hill Tribal council at Moreh ward no. 14 yesterday will be concluded tonight.
No untoward incident was reported during the bandh and Namphalong gate number 2 was blocked.
Meanwhile a joint meeting of all communities was held at Moreh and has taken five resolutions.
The resolutions included among other things to pressurize the concerned authority to punish the culprits, to prevail peace at Moreh and to provide additional securities at Moreh Town.
KSO General Headquarters condemned the bomb attack that took place at the residence of Hill Tribal Council’s (HTC) president Pu Jangmang Haokip, yesterday. Even though the attack may be inconspicuous, with no casualties nevertheless it is an unprecedented incident which could easily bring undesirable consequences it was added. The people of
Moreh are requested to not allow the situation be blown out of proportion, considering the resultant communal tension whenever this kind of situation occurred in this town.
It could be the handy work of miscreant intended to foment ill will among the denizen of the border town. It could also be a conspiracy to fuel communal tension it was added. But this sinister design must not be allowed to thrive. All the people must hold on to peace.
The government and the local authority should leave no stone unturned to nab the culprit so as to avoid civil unrest it is advisable that adequate security detail should be provide to
the HTC President for now. The police forces should beef up security and intelligence network in the town to maintain rule of law. The attacker must be hunt down promptly to get to the bottom of things; and also to get rid of the peoples’ skeptical perception about the capabilities of police forces.
The KSO also wants the assailants to spelt out the reasons for this attack on the HTC President and his family. Should this be about monetary demand or dispute, the people or the
party involved is advice to stop immediately as this injustice shall not be condoned at any cost. There should be no further attack on the HTC President and his family said Mangcha Baite, Vice President (Adm.)
