AIZAWL, Jan 15 NNN: The expert team from Minnesota University, USA who came to conduct a study on New Land Use Policy (NLUP) said that the plan of Mizoram government to uplift the people of Mizoram through NLUP is good enough as per their findings as of now.
The team of Professors from Minessota University attended the Farmers’ Day programme at Vanapa Hall here in Aizawl.
Speaking on the occasion, the visiting team co-ordinator, Prof. Karlyn Eckman said, “The flagship programme of Mizoram government plan to uplift the people of Mizoram through NLUP is good enough with respect to our findings as of now; we will go on to study further.” He also spoke of his expectation that there will be a chance of collaboration in carrying out the NLUP with Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) under UNO
Prof. Karlyn Eckman said, “We appreciate the industriousness of the farmers in Mizoram, and we are thinking on how to render our help to them. So far as our inspection is concerned, the farmers are in need of technical assistance.” Besides, Prof. Karlyn Eckman also spoke about their finding of good grounds on which they may collaborate with Mizoram University.
The visiting expert team from Minessota University includes Prof. Karlyn Eckman, Prof. Dean Current, Prof. Joe Magner and Prof. Michel Sherman, who had arrived Mizoram on January 10 to stay here till January 26.
