IMPHAL, Jan 17 NNN : A depressed mother of three has sought help from an NGO on Thursday saying she has been victimized and rejected by her husband after over a decade of marriage life.
Telem Robita, 31, daughter of T Dhananjoy, a resident of Kongba Khetri Leikai in Imphal East district, married to one Romesh Kumar, 47, a native of Bihar in 1999. proprietor of Capital Watch &Co, Paona Bazaar, .
She was subjected to tortures and locked her inside the room Sobita told reporters at the office of Federation of Regional Indigenous Society (FREINDS) here.
Kumar never allowed her to take part at any family ceremonies, she alleged.
Sobita said she was treated at Raj Polyclinic, in January 2012 where she was diagnosed with TB in the brain.
Kumar’s elder brother and sister-in-law were asked to help her family as she had to stay at the hospital for long days for medical treatment, she said.
She alleged her husband that he was having illicit affair with relatives while she was undergoing treatment
She along with her three children returned to her parental home in February 2012 after she was pushed away by Kumar, but after three days Kumar came there and took away the children, Sobita said.
Then, she received a divorce letter through the Family Court, Imphal in June the same year. Sobita had approached the Human Rights Law Network, Manipur to seek justice, but it failed.
“Kumar married to a woman named Kanchan in Bihar whom he divorced and later married with me,” Sobita said and alleged Kumar has been barred from coming to his native village in Bihar because of the controversial divorce.
Kumar also had love affairs with another three women, including a nurse.
