New Delhi, Jan 18: A two-day Festival of the Northeast Culture of Peace presented by Zubaan in collaboration with Heinrich Boll Stiftung and Khublei kicked off today at the India Habitat Centre. The festival dedicated to Indira Goswami and Irom Sharmila began with a session ‘The Northeast Identity-Then Now’.
The session was deliberated by Ganesh Devy, Sanjoy Hazarika, Temsula Ao and Kishalaya Bhattacharya. Moderated by Patricia Mukhim, the session delved into different perceptions of the emerging philosophy and search for an identify of the people.
The festival will start tomorrow with yet another session ‘Ethnic Violence in Assam. For the first session of seven different themes, Moushumi Kandali, Uddipana Goswami, Mirza Zulfigar Rahman, Rita Chowdhury, Nitoo Das, Sabita Goswami will be the speakers for session with Kishlaya Bhattacharya as the moderator.
The topic Tracing the Tribal-Non Tribal divide in Meghalaya and other states will be deliberated upon by Anjum Hasan, Tiplut Nongbri and Wanphrang Diengdoh followed by a discussion with Sonal Shah on Naga Food in the Indian Capital. The women’s voices. Women’s rights, women’s writings will be enlightened by Belinder Dhanoa, Jarjum Ete, Monalisa Chankiija, Temsula Ao and Moushumi Kandali.
The hills called Home has two speakers Sujit Chakraborty and Hamari Jamatia and the Other side of Silence will be deliberated by Daman Singh, Ngura Boitlung and Joy Pachua. The Festival will be concluded with a session ‘Film Culture and Censorship in Manipur with Bimol Akoijam, Doren Oinam, Mamta Murthy and L Somi Roy.
