IMPHAL, Jan 18MNS NNN: A woman of 47 who is severely mentally retarded and also physically handicapped was killed in a major fire at Sanjenthong Officer Colony in Imphal. The fire took place close to the official quarter of Manipur Chief Secretary DS Poonia.
Reports said the fire occurred around 3:15 pm at Type-IV, Quarter No-5 in Sanjenthong Officer Colony when Lamleikim Paite, daughter of late Multhong Tombing Paite, hailed from Bungol village in Churachandpur district of Manipur, was charred to death. The blaze engulfed an extended room of the Quarter No 5. The total loss of properties in the fire was unclear. Lamleikim was alone inside the room when it engulfed in flames.
The victim lived at the Quarter No 5 with her sister, a staff nurse at Singjamei Primary Health Centre.
