Imphal, Jan 21: A woman was beaten to death with a stick at Poirou Khongjin Mayai Leikai under Yairipok PS last night around 8 p.m
The victim was identified as Laishram Sakhitombi (58).
The accused is the son of the victim’s brother-in-law and a relative.
He was identified as Laishram Raj (28). A public meeting was held at Yairipok Poirou Khongjil Mayai Torban Leikai vety. Lampak. The angry crowds also damaged the house of Laishram Ramo, father of the accused.
Police rounded up Ramo today and the accused Raj also surrendered to concerned PS.
Shantikumar son of the victim and his wife Anuradha came out to eat paan last night around 8 p.m. Laishram Raj had an altercation with Shantikumar as Raj used obscene words. Meinya younger brother of Raj also supported his elder brother. When Sakhitobi went to pacify them, the accused hit her with a stick in the head.
She was rushed to community health centre but succumbed to her injuries.
