IMPHAL, Feb 25 NNN: Two active workers of Naga National Council (NNC) possessing huge explosive items, including two IEDs have been arrested by Manipur police from near Cheirap Court here on Monday.
Briefing the media at Imphal West Commando Complex, Dr S Ibomcha, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Commando, Imphal West, said that based on a reliable input a combined team of Imphal West and Imphal East districts police commandos arrested two active workers of NNC from Near Cheirap Court around 8:30 am.
The duo has been identified as Luingam Horam aged 37, son of Ngaithang Horam,a resident of Hoomi, Ukhrul district and Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai resident Elangbam Gyaneshor Singh aged 49, son of E Mangaljao, he said.
Two IEDs compactly made by iron along with two electronic detonators, two bed switches, two charge demolition M-112, four circuits, one battery cell, six electronic detonators, one remote control set and two mobile handsets have been seized from their possession, the DSP added.
He said the arrests were made under his supervision and command of Inspector P John Singh, Officer in-charge, Imphal West Commando.
They disclosed that NNC in collusion with the banned People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) were planning to explode the above two IEDs in Laipham Khunou area in Imphal East, the DSP further claimed.
