IMPHAL, Mar 21 (NNN): The militant outfit Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has clarified on Thursday that the exchange of fire near Kotlam village along National Highway-37 on March 20 took place between Assam Rifles troops and two of its debarred cadres.
ZUF information and publicity secretary A. Dangmei said the gunbattle near Kotlam village was actually taken place between troops of 10 AR and the outfit’s two expelled cadres named Pouchalung and Poupanlung.
Dangmei said the higher authority of the outfit expelled them from the organization on March 15 for violating its law.
The ZUF also appealed to all not to cooperate with the two renegades and informed that any Government Department should not lend a hand if they ask for extortion money using the name of the outfit.
