Imphal, Apr 9 NNN: The National Students Union of India (NSUI), a frontal organization of the Congress party on Tuesday celebrated its 43rd foundation day at the Annexe Hall, Congress Bhavan, BT Road in Imphal. The anniversary function of the Manipur chapter of National Students’ Union of India was graced by Deputy Chief Minister and Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Gaikhangam, and Social Welfare minister AK Mirabai Devi. IFCD minister I Hemochandra, Thanga constituency MLA T Mangibabu, executive members of MPCC, Congress workers and leaders of the party’s other frontal organizations, cells and departments also attended the event.
Saying that he is happy that the existence of NSUI has crossed 43 long years, Gaikhangam reminded that the union was set up under the guidance of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi aimed at promoting the wings an cells of Congress party with special emphasis on talent search and bringing a peaceful and diplomatic society. He commented that students should work and share for the wellbeing of the society instead of concentrating only on politics, sociology and religion after identifying their sheer interest on them.
The MPCC president also suggested the NSUI volunteers to work hard on bringing a change in today’s mayhem society by maintaining austere self-discipline and loyalty to both the party and nation. Mirabai also spoke at the function when she asserted that India has become a dynamic and a modern nation since the inception of NSUI. She said students need to create a new history for the future generation by realizing the objectives of NSUI which was established by Indira Gandhi with the sole aim to make a good society.
