Imphal, April 27 : To fortify close association with ex-servicemen and to address their concerns, an ex-servicemen rally was organized by Red Shield Division, at Senapati district. Over 500 veterans from villages of Senapati and Tamenglong Districts participated in the rally.
The rally was inaugurated by Maj Gen KK Sinha, SM GOC Red Shield Division. Alexander Pao , MLA L Dhikho, MLA Devendro MLA attended the rally.
The GOC fondly recollected the glorious saga and history of courage exhibited by the personnel at various fronts of the Nation. He said that the gallant contribution for the cause of the nation, made by the personnel from the state of Manipur irrespective of the varied cultural diversity, is a glaring example of ethnic harmonization, worth emulating. He appreciated the veterans for having selflessly given the best of their years to the Nation. The General said that he is aware of the difficulties faced by the ex servicemen post retirement and urged that the civil administration must responsibly come forward to alleviate the problems faced by them. The GOC assured the veterans that all assistance will be provided and that their grievances will be suitably attended to.
Various agencies from the Army, Assam Rifles, Territorial Army, Zila Sainik Board, ECHS, SBI and State Government established stalls to render assistance and spread awareness on pension, health, education, banking and insurance to resolve the probelms of Ex-servicemen. Medical and dental assistance were rendered during the occasion. The veterans were also provided conveyance to bring them together to Senapati from far flung villages of Senapati and Tamenglong Districts.
