IMPHAL, May 15: Renowned personality Ratan Thiyam has been conferred honorary D. Lit. Doctoral Degree by the Assam University. This is the third time that he has received the Doctor of Literature. The first was from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata and the second was conferred by Guwahati University.
D. Lit. to Ratan Thiyam has been conferred during the 13th Convocation Ceremony of Assam University held May 14, at Silchar attended by the Pranab Mukherji, President of India, Janaki Ballabh Patnaik, Governor of Assam and the Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
