IMPHAL, June, 15: The Sustainable Development Centre (SDC), Thamnapokpi of Bishnupur district has sought the attention of the House of the ongoing Manipur Legislative Assembly to discuss on the violation of RTE by the private schools of Manipur for not implementing 25% reservation for the poor and needy people, said a press release today.

The press release added that RTE has been enforced in the year 2009 and the age group of 6-10 years and class I-VIII was covered under this Act while mentioning its provision such as free & compulsory education, providing books and uniforms free of cost, free admission, no admission test, no expulsion, no repetition of class, no corporal punishment, providing safe drinking water and mid day meal, separate toilet for boys and girls and further added that the ongoing assembly session must discuss for not fully  implementing RTE yet it completed three years of its enforcement.

The Sustainable Development Centre further urged the private schools to implement RTE in their respective schools by setting a 25% reservation accordingly. The non implementation of RTE is the violation of the Act and right of the school going children, so there should be a discussion in the house, it said.

IMPHAL, June, 15: In order to facilitate e-payment for the commercial tax, government of Manipur has today allowed HDFC and AXIS Bank for commercial tax payment by way of electronic payment, said it according to a Directorate of Information and Public Relation.

The Additional Chief Secretary (finance) issued a notification in this regard, said the source and added that the official instruction of July 10, 2011 along with the instruction Reserve of Bank of India, commercial tax will be collected online though the above mentioned banks.

IMPHAL, June, 15: The National Foundation for Communal Harmony, autonomous body under the Ministry of Home Affairs has invited application from the individuals and organisations for National Communal Harmony Award 2012, said it according to a press release of the Department of Information and Public Relation (DIPR).

The National Communal Harmony Award 2012 has two categories – one for individuals and another for organisations which carries a sum of Rs. 5, 00,000/- and Rs. 10, 00,000/- respectively. The details information will be available at office of the under secretary (Home) and also at the office of deputy commissioners of all districts while saying that the applicants (both individuals and organisations) must have worked in the field of communal harmony for 10 years and should not be a staff of parliament, state legislature or statutory local bodies. It is further said that the applicants should not be member of political parties which were recognized by the Election Commission of India, said it.

IMPHAM, June, 15: Irabot Foundation Manipur has been campaigning mass rabies vaccination since June 2, 2013 at different eight locations in association with different local clubs/organisation under the aegis of the department of veterinary and animal husbandry, government of Manipur, said it according to press release of the Irabot Foundation Manipur.

Similarly, 48 dogs at Social Welfare Club, Kakwa Huidrom Leikai and 70 dogs at Star Volunteer Corps, Awang Maibam Leikai were vaccinated on the ninth rabies vaccination campaign, said it.
