IMPHAL, June, 15: The Sustainable Development Centre (SDC), Thamnapokpi of Bishnupur district has sought the attention of the House of the ongoing Manipur Legislative Assembly to discuss on the violation of RTE by the private schools of Manipur for not implementing 25% reservation for the poor and needy people, said a press release today.
The press release added that RTE has been enforced in the year 2009 and the age group of 6-10 years and class I-VIII was covered under this Act while mentioning its provision such as free & compulsory education, providing books and uniforms free of cost, free admission, no admission test, no expulsion, no repetition of class, no corporal punishment, providing safe drinking water and mid day meal, separate toilet for boys and girls and further added that the ongoing assembly session must discuss for not fully implementing RTE yet it completed three years of its enforcement.
The Sustainable Development Centre further urged the private schools to implement RTE in their respective schools by setting a 25% reservation accordingly. The non implementation of RTE is the violation of the Act and right of the school going children, so there should be a discussion in the house, it said.
