IMPHAL, November 24: District Day II of Manipur Sangai Festival featured cultural troupes from Tamenglong and they did not disappoint the crowds.

There was a surge in the crowd today and the venues at BOAT and Hafta Kangjeibung were overflowing with visitors.

The fashion parade by the Zeliangrong youths attired in their best traditional costumes and bamboo dance enthralled the crowd who watched without blinking their eyes.

The ticket counters were shut prematurely due to the heavy crowd of Sunday and early exhaustion of tickets, clearly showing that the fever of Sangai festival have spread to nooks and corners.

The crowd was so thick that security personnel deployed for Sangai festival had a hard time carrying out routine checks of the incoming visitors.

The securities were tightened in advance in expectation of a heavy turnout today.

Young local girls holding hand-made flowers bought from Thailand stalls at the premium sections stride the alleys. Compared to last year, the popularity of Thai stalls has risen and bunch of spectators were seen gathered in front of their stalls.

Attractive items like ornaments priced very reasonably at those stalls are selling like hot cakes.
