AMSU initiates mobilisation drive ahead of Realisation Day

IMPHAL, April 10: As a part of the 34th Realisation Day observation on 17th April, a mobilisation drive was initiated on Thursday by All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) at Pitambara

IMPHAL, April 10: As a part of the 34th Realisation Day observation on 17th April, a mobilisation drive was initiated on Thursday by All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) at Pitambara School in Kwakeithel Nongsha Leirak.

Networking and cooordination secretary of AMSU, Salam Premchand said that after the forced integration of Manipur into the Indian Union with the signing of merger agreement in October 15, 1949 the inner line permit (ILP) system was lifted by the second chief commissioner in Manipur, Himat Singh on Nov 18, 1950 and the irruption of outsiders in massive numbers continues to this day.

“Due to this demographic problem, the work culture has been affected in the state; many religious and cultural changes are followed by the Manipuri people.”

He said that AMSU is organising the mobilisation drive to stem the changes in a bid to bring back our own lost traditions and culture in the state.
