IMPHAL, April 11: The brotherhood relation between Hills and Valley people under theme of `Shajibu Khuol Tamba Eegi Khungul Liba` was organised by the All Manipur Ethnical Socio-Cultural Organisation (AMESCO) at Gwaltabi Community Hall under Lamlai Constituency Imphal East District.
The observation signifies traditional fraternal relations between Hills and Valley with sisters presenting gifts to their brothers. The ritual has been observed from the ancient times, AMESCO spokespersons explained. The traditional unity among brothers and sisters of hills and valley is what the organisation is trying to revitalise, they said.
S Nando president AMESCO said that annually during the spring season, sisters present their brothers with agricultural gifts and their brothers return these gifts with blessings for long and prosperous life.
He further said that this is the 15th observation the AMESCO has organised. It will bring new hope of unity among the people of Manipur and it is an appeal to people of Manipur to expand goodwill amongst them.
He said that once there were no outside religions practiced in Manipur hills and valley people lived together in fraternal bondages. Today however, imported religions have broken this unity, he claimed.
