IMPHAL, October 28: The State government has decided to impose new traffic regulations in the Imphal bazaar area. A cabinet meeting held today has resolved to restrict entry into the main market areas of Imphal area in a bid to lessen the ever increasing congestion.

The new regulations would include the shop owners to relocate their warehouses from the market and to keep their goods at another location far from the market place, they will be given two months time to arrange for the construction or hiring of viable warehousing areas in the nearby vicinity. Another regulations is to disallow parking in the streets of Bir Tikendrajit road, Paona Bazar and Thangal Bazar, however vehicles will be allowed entry for dropping or picking up passengers. An alternate parking will be provided on the pavement built atop the Naga river. This move is done by the Government in the view of lessening the vehicular congestion in the heart of the city. The said time of two months will be given for relocation of the warehouses and to stop the parking in the mentioned streets.

The cabinet also decided to relocate the Keisampat parking area once the Inter State Bus Terminus is operational.
