In June 2016, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh told the all-party delegation led by the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh that the bills were examined by legal experts implying that the bills have been vetoed.

Speaking to reporters at Manipur Press Club, a local identified as Najiruddin Imam Shah said that the two persons identified as Jakawur Rahaman (34) and his brother Athilar Rahaman s/o of Badur Rahaman were not involved in the death of Md Abdul alias Rahaman.
