He collected data from the field, she analysed them. From colleagues, they became friends. He would even visit her home. But even when they realised that they were in love, the two decided to remain just friends because he was a Hindu and she a Muslim. “We knew our families would never agree to the relationship. Nothing like this had happened in either of our families,” said Rajeev. “My brother wanted to get married to a Hindu girl but my family had prevailed over him to change his decision,” Kashifa said.
