Imphal, Aug 7: Eleven Star Sporting Union Akampat beat
SSC Porompat 3-1 in the 41st match of Maharajkumar Ghanendrajit Memorial Super Division League at the ABA Kshetrigao Ground today.
L Romesh scored two goals at 5th and 41st min of the first-half and N Vinod Khanna scored the goal at 67th min for Eleven Star while the single goal of SSC was scored by Sahid Ali in the 55th min. M Boinao of Eleven Star was booked a yellow card in the match.
USA Khurai will take on PYA Kairang in the 42nd league match at 3pm tomorrow.

State karatekas to represent India in international c’ship

Imphal, Aug 7: The Kyo-kushinkai Karate Association Manipuri is sending five karatekas from Manipur to represent India in the International Open Karate Championship that will be held at Bandhist Krida Sankul, KDMC Ground, Thane in Mumbai on August 16 and 17, according to a statement from the association.
The selected list includes:
• Khwairakpam Lakhan: below 35kg, 12 to 13 years
• Thangminlen Khongsai: below 50kg, 16 to 17 years
• Khoirom Tendenba: below 55kg, 16 to 17 years
• Ningthoujam Sanjoy Me-etei: below 55kg, 18+years
• Waikhom Santa: below 50kg, 18+years
All of them are individual kumite; and while the first four are play at the national level, W Santa is an international player, mentioned the statement.

There is a racket suspected to be running inside the MPSC which needs to be busted in no time. It will not also be difficult to bust the racket if the state Govt., has the will to do so as the racket seems to be confined within the examination section only. Their responsibilities are the conduct of examinations held periodically and carry out evaluation of the answer-scripts thereof, by engaging experts. Instead, they are creating series of room for favoritism and nepotism through manipulation of marks.

Video conference

Prime Minister Narendra Modi would hold a video conference with all Deputy Commissioners of the country at 7 pm of August 9 on ‘New India-Manthan’.
The State Government has already instructed DCs to take part in the video conference.
The Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries and Commissioners would also join the video conference at the conference hall of Old Secretariat.

Free medical camp held

Bishnupur: Regarding the aftermath of the recent flood, a free medical camp was held at Moirang Lamkhai Khoyol Keithel under Moirang Municipal Council by Directorate of Health Services and National Health Mission Manipur, JNIMS and CMO Bishnupur today.
Health Minister L Jayantakumar Singh, MLA of Moirang AC P Saratchandra Singh, Medical Director Karam Lokendro, Additional P Shyamsunder and CMO Bishnupur Dr H Babychand Devi along with other medical officials inspected the camp.
A total of 22 doctors including many specialist for medicine, gynaecology, ENT etc attended to 1700 people during the camp.

Kakching: Kakching District Labourer’s Welfare Association head office, Kakching organised an awareness programme for building and other construction workers cum labourers card distribution ceremony at Library and Information Centre auditorium, Kakching Phoushupat Leikai yesterday.
Labourers card issued by Manipur Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board were also distributed to 300 labourers during the programme.

THOUBAL, Aug 7:As a part of security measures for the coming Independence Day Celebration, a joint team of Commando Unit Thoubal including women police under the supervision of SP, Thoubal and a column of 39 AR arrested an individual from Sugnu yesterday.
The person has been identified as Waikhom (o) Ranjana Devi alias Bembem alias Shila(32) w/o W Prasanta Singh of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai at present Sugnu Turel Wangma Thong Makha, self style 2nd Lieutenant of PREPAK (PRO), yesterday at 1.50 pm from Sugnu Bazar near Bus parking.
On verification, Ranjana disclosed that she joined PREPAK (PRO) in October 2000 through one Tamba of PREPAK and her army number is 10358 of 10th batch.
She was later handed over to Sugnu police station for further necessary action.

SENAPATI, Aug 7: The 59th Mountain Brigade Commander, Senapati organized a free medical camp for the people of Emeshiipro, Namgugai, and Taphou Namthan areas at Taphou Ngaihang village.
