A house belonging to one Md Khamba, (63) son of (L) Iboton from Thoubal Moijing Wangmataba Konjil Leikai was burnt to cinders by fire, at around 3.30 am in the morning yesterday.
It is believed the fire must have been caused by electricity short circuit. Furniture inside the house including household items and cash of Rs 1, 16000 amounting to a total of Rs. 2.50 lakh were lost. The public tried to douse the flames but they were too strong.
A fire tender of Thoubal fire service arrived at the spot and assisted in the rescue work.
