IMPHAL, Jan 17: Imphal Municipal Corporation Mayor L Lokeshwar has condemned the bomb blast in front of M Sector and Johnstone Higher Secondary School which injured a lady sweeper of the corporation on January 16.
Speaking to media persons at his office chamber today, the Mayor said that the lady sweeper who worked tirelessly to keep the city clean as a part of the smart city initiative, is still undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity after being hit by a shrapnel during the blast.
Condemning the act of endangering the people, L Lokeshwar appealed to the party concerned to refrain from carrying out such acts in the future.

IMPHAL, Jan 17: Imphal East district police arrested one PREPAK cadre and seized a Chinese hand grenade from his possession during a cordon and search operation at Wangkhei Andro parking at around 10.30 am today, under Porompat police station.
According to a reliable source, Imphal East district police, acting on specific information about the presence of some UG members in and around Wangkhei Andro parking area, launched a counter insurgency operation in and around the area today morning, at around 10.30.
During the search operation, the police team detained one individual identified as Thangjam Borish (27) s/o (L) Th Bijoy of Kongpal Mutum Leikai and seized a Chinese hand grenade from his possession.
The individual was arrested from the area after observing necessary formalities and handed over to Porompat police station along with the seized hand grenade, for taking up necessary legal actions.
