IMPHAL, October 16: BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba strongly condemned the attack on students from the State at Bangalore on October 14 and at the same time lamented the State government`™s failure to take any initiative on the incident.

During a brief interaction with media persons at the party`™s office this noon, Chaoba said he will be submitting a written complaint to the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister on the issue seeking arrest and befitting punishment of all those involved in the crime.

He said an engineering student from the State Michael Lengjathang Haokip was severely assaulted at Bengalore.

The State BJP president condemned the assault as an act of cowardice.

This type of incident should not be repeated, he said before adding that the BJP State unit will also urge the Karnataka Chief Minister to take measures to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.

Miffed by the lack of response from the State government on the issue, Chaoba bemoaned that the State government has failed to take any positive initiative on the issue.

The BJP demand the State government to take some initiative and send some high ranking officials to Karnataka to look into the incident, he said.

This is not the first time, such incidents have been repeatedly happening in several States of the country since the last many years, he asserted before questioning why the State government is remaining silent on the incident.

He said during a simple quarrel among students of NIT Takyelpat, the State government had received strong pressures from the governments of several States including Bihar.

The BJP State president has also wished the people of the State on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba which falls on October 25. He said the festival celebrates the bond of love between brothers and sisters.

Meanwhile, the The Thadou Students`™ Association, Imphal has also condemned the attack on the Thadou Students`™ Association, Bangalore president T Michael Lamjathang Haokip and two other members Ngamkholen Haokip and Rocky Kipgen at Kothanur, Bangalore on October 18.

According to a press release of the association, it has demanded punishment of the culprits and to deal with them severly.

The State government should also take necessary measures to give proper care and protection to the students from the State who are studying outside, it said.

The association will take up action if the government failed to bring a solution regarding the incident, it said.
