IMPHAL, October 23: A short film titled “The Linger” has been officially selected for the 4th Delhi International Film Festival, which will be held from December 5-December 10.
The debut film directed by Shamurailatpam Bishwajit Sharma alias Shamtom Shar, is about a man haunted in his dreams by a memory of his past and it basically depicts the nature of dreams and its relation to human subconscious minds.
Bishwajit Sharma, son of Ph. Brajamuhini Devi, hails from Bishnupur Mamang Leikai, Manipur. Earlier, he studied film editing at Digital Film Academy, Mumbai, then assisted filmmaker O. Gautam in few Manipuri films and attended Screenwriting workshops by Jame V. Hart and by Alexandra Viets, Documentary workshops by DocEdge, Kolkata (Asian Forum for Documentary) and Acting workshop by Seema Biswas.
Bishwajit expressed his opinion on substandard quality of fiction or narrative film being produced in Manipur these days. He said, he wants to change the concept of fast money making through films in the state and is looking forward for genuine film producers to emerge, who know film and filmmaking.
