Imphal, Apr 9: 27 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector under HQ IGAR(South) organized a Health Awareness Camp on Malaria at Parum Pantha village in Thoubal District on 08 Apr 2012. The event was conducted by a team of medical officer and paramedical staff of the Unit. Medical check up and lecture extended to more than 250 villagers.The aim of the Camp was to create awareness among local people about deadly disease Malaria and modalities to prevent it. The deadly disease spread among the people as a result of unhygienic living conditions and unawareness about it. The medical team carried out medical check-up and provided medicines. Medical teams also distributed leaflets containing preventive measures of Malaria and also conducted an awareness lecture cum presentation.
29 Assam Rifles of 6 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North), conducted a Medical Camp for the villagers of Nuiland village. A team of Medical Officers and Nursing Assistants attended the patients in the Medical Camp. Around 130 men, women and children were treated in the camp and medicines were distributed to the villagers. Special medical attention was provided to the senior citizens. Awareness lecture in prevention of Malaria was also organized by the Medical Officers during the medical camp.
On 07 Apr 2012, 33 Assam Rifles of Red shield Division organized a free camp for the villagers of Thanga and Karang. The medical camp started from 8.30 AM in the morning and was carried out till 3.00 PM in the evening. During the camp more than 348 persons (Male 193 , Female 123 and Children 32) were examined and treated. Medical prescriptions and free medicines were distributed for diarrhea, dysentery, respiratory tract infections, Malaria, viral fever, skin diseases arthritis and Myalgias etc. The team comprised of two doctors and two nursing assistants who attended to the people.
