Kharsa / Hog deer fawn handed over to zoo

IMPHAL, Dec 20: Keibul Lamjao National Park RO Range II, along with the park’s Unique Wildlife Protection Committee, handed over a young Hog Deer (Kharsa) fawn which was rescued by one Asem Inaobi of Mayang Imphal Thana Anilongbi, to Manipur Zoological garden today.
Secretary of Unique Wildlife Protection Committee, Elangbam Budha, has urged the people not to disturb or cause any harm to the Hog deers as it is currently their mating season.
He also pointed out that last year, the population count of the hog deers was at 16.
