IMPHAL, Sept 3 NNN : Noted scholar Dr Lokendra Arambam stressed the importance of literature and encouraged the Liangmai intellectuals to write as many books as they can. He said books can put the community in an advantageous position. Dr Lokendra Arambam also harped on the nitty-gritties of writing books.
He was speaking as a resource person on the one-day workshop organised by Liangmai Writers’ Research Forum (LWRF) at Liangmai Baptist Church, Deulahland in Imphal.
Dr Lokendra said writers should co-ordinate with young minds and experienced elders so as to make the books they are writing to be the meaningful materials. Another resource of the programme, R.K Brojendro who is the general secretary of Manipur Writers Forum highlighted about the process of writing books and distribution while A.K Sharma, president of Manipur Writers Forum spoke on how literature has been an integral part of mankind. He said the patterns of writing books have been changing with time.
In the second session, K Daimai and Dr Pouchunbou shared their views as resource persons.
Intellectuals from Liangmai community participated in the programme.
It is worth noting here that in a move to enliven the Liangmai writings, its dialect and culture, the Liangmai Writers Forum was formed in February this year with Adibo Newmei as its first president.
