IMPHAL, Oct 14 MNS NNN: Maibam Itomba Meitei (25) s/o M. Churamani and M (O) Chandrasakhi Devi, a resident of Uripok, Naoremthong Lairembi Leirak today attempted to earn a slot in Guinness World Record by performing pull-up 20 times in 30.906 seconds by his little finger overpassing the present record of maximum number 16 in a minute made by an American earlier.
The stunning function organised under the initiatives of The Brialliant Club, Naoremthong, Samushang and LAKHSH Pioneer Committee of Naoremthong Khulem Leikai was held at Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy in Imphal.
The function was graced by Lok Sabha MP Dr. T. Meinya, W. Brajabidhu Singh, MLA of Lamshang and M. Okendra Singh (Sekpil Foundation) as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively. M. Okendra Singh himself is the Guinness World Record holder of Manipur for his Sambal Lei Sekpil which was officially announced on 2002 at Kumbi.
Speaking as the chief guest, Dr. T. Meinya hailed M. Itomba for his extraordinary performance saying that it will bring laurels to the state. M. Itomba Meitei had participated in the State Level Weight Lifting Championship on January 11-12, 2007 held at Khuman Lampak Sport Complex in the weight category of 50 kg, where he got first. In the same year he joined in the All India SAI Inter Weight Lifting Championship from September 7-12 at Vishakapatnam. In that he gotsecond position. Besides, he also participated at the 4th Sub Junior (Boys) National Championship from November 22-24, 2007 where he stood first position.
