IMPHAL, Oct 14 NNN : The 2nd State Conference on Manipur Silang Loumee LupĀ or farmers’ union was held at Manipur Press Club here today.
The conference was attended by Dr. M. Nara Singh, Secretary of Manipur State Council, CPI; L. Sotinkumar Singh, General Secretary of All India Trade Union Congress, Manipur State Unit and K. Kunjararashi Singh, President of Manipur Silang Loumee Lup, Manipur State Unit as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nara informed that a massive public rally will be held at New Delhi in protest against the government’s decision of price hike in diesel, provision cap on LPG to 6 cylinders per customer and Foreigh Direct Investment in the country while adding that the rally will be participated by members of Bharatiya Khet Mazdoor Union (BKMU), All Trade Union Congress along with various political parties of the country.
He further stated that the Centre and State government have failed to look after the poor people especially those workers engaging in agriculture. He also blaimed the state government for not distributing the PDS items in proper and transparency way.
L. Sotinkumar said, in India workers could not get deserving wage and place where it has led to black business.
“All India Trade Union Congress will launch movement on December 18 at Delhi along with a public rally on December 20 which will be followed by a genral strike on January 20 and 21 next year to protest against the government’s decision to hike price in diesel, provision cap on LPG and Foreign Direct Investment in the country “, he added.
During the session, a nine point resolution was taken unanimously.
