New Delhi, Oct 31 : Planning Commission has given investment clearance for the scheme “Khuga Multipurpose Project (Medium Revised) of Manipur”. The Project is estimated to cost Rs. 433.91 Crore (2011 Price Level).
The project shall be completed in the financial year 2012-13 and Plan accounts would be closed by 31st March 2013. Project may accordingly be executed as per the approved outlays in the State Annual Plans. The State Finance Department would restrict the expenditure to the approved cost and no additional expenditure beyond approved cost may be permitted unless the revised estimate is got approved following the prescribed procedure. In case of any further cost revision, the project shall be debarred from AIBP funding.
The project Authority must seek the approved of the “Command Area Development Plan” from the Planning Commission. Also the CAD works will be executed concurrently with the project implementation so that the participation of the stake holder farmers is ensured right from the stage of project planning from implementation to maintenance.
This will ensure that the outlay on the project is converted into enduring outcomes in the form of assured and sustainable irrigation benefits to the farmers. The pari-passu implementation of the project would be monitored by the Planning Commission.
