IMPHAL, November 21: Six women protestors were injured after the police fired tear gas shell to disperse the public blockade supporters at Gwaltabi under Yainganagpokpi police station in the Imphal-Ukhrul road around 3:30pm today.
Speaking on the sideline of the agitation, president of the Bungpi Area Women Union, Chongboi said that the police dispersed the blockade supporters by using abusive words and fired tears gas to the protestor.
The police also chased the protester up to their village, she said and alleged that three women blockade supporter are still missing since the incident. The president further said that the union will not give up their agitation until their demands are fulfil and warned that if the police try to foil their agitation with guns and tears gases then their agitation will also turn violent. The injured women has been identified as Lalhiboi, 40 wife of Thongjang, Tingboi, 35 wife of Henjang, Chongboi, 30 wife of Ngamlet and Nume khongsai, 50 wife of Ngamkhai all from Molnom village and the other two injured are from Nempha, 50 wife of Vangkam of Pashing village and Kimhing Khongsai, 55 wife of Jangsei also from Pashing village.
